Dexter Fowler Becomes Free Agent
3 years agoToronto Blue Jays outfielder Dexter Fowler requested his release and is now a free agent, according to a source. Fowler signed a minor league deal with Toronto in late March after recovering from a torn ACL in his knee. The 36-year-old veteran did have five hits in 12 at-bats over three games for Triple-A Buffalo, but he'll now be looking to latch on with another team as he tries to work his way back to the majors. Fowler has appeared in only 38 major league games in the last two seasons with the St. Louis Cardinals and Los Angeles Angels, and he's hit .236/.312/.364 with four home runs, 16 RBI and 17 runs scored in 122 plate appearances. He continues to be well off the fantasy radar at the tail end of his career.
