4 years agoArizona Diamondbacks starting pitcher Merrill Kelly (shoulder) was placed on the injured list with a nerve impingement in his throwing shoulder on Tuesday. Kelly had been off to a strong start to the season with a 2.59 ERA over his first five starts, but he was scratched from his scheduled start on Tuesday with shoulder discomfort and will now miss significant time. Kelly’s exact timeline is unclear, but he’s expected to visit a specialist later this week. Kelly appears likely to miss most of if not all of the rest of the regular season though, severely damaging his fantasy value. Alex Young is starting in Kelly’s place on Tuesday and is likely to remain in the rotation as long as Kelly remains sidelined.--Sam Chinitz
