Diamondbacks Sign Druw Jones For Over $8 Million
2 years agoThe Arizona Diamondbacks signed outfielder Druw Jones, the second overall pick of the 2022 MLB draft, for $8,185,100 on Tuesday. The slot value tops the previous $7.7 million record of Kansas City Royals shortstop Bobby Witt Jr. for a high school player. Jones is the son of former Atlanta Braves outfielder Andruw Jones, and he also plays center field like his father. The 18-year-old was considered one of the best prep players of the past couple seasons. He has plenty of tools and has a very projectable frame at 6-foot-4 and 180 pounds with exciting athleticism. Jones' approach at the plate and hit tool are more advanced that most high-end high school picks that go early in the first round.
