Dinelson Lamet Ramps Up To 98 MPH In Sim Game
4 years agoSan Diego Padres right-handed pitcher Dinelson Lamet (elbow) tossed another sim game Sunday, this time displaying his slider against opposing batters. After receiving a PRP injection that ended his 2020 campaign, there was some concern that the pitch may have to be dialed back some heading into '21, especially if the righty was to avoid further aggravating his elbow. But Lamet was able to crank his fastball up to 98 mph as well, throwing roughly 20-25 pitches. The Padres may have the luxury of not needing a full-season workload out of Lamet this year due to their depth, but his elbow makes him a finicky fantasy asset come draft time. When on, he boasts an elite K rate (34.8 percent in '20), but he may also be facing a capped allotment on an organizational level this season.
