4 years agoSan Diego Padres starting pitcher Dinelson Lamet (elbow) is unlikely to be ready for Opening Day. Lamet continues to progress slowly through his recovery from last year's elbow injury, as he's thrown three simulated games but has yet to take the mound for Cactus League action. Still, Thursday was a step in the right direction for the 28-year-old, as he pitched multiple innings in a simulated game for the first time, showing good stuff and velocity on his pitches, albeit with some shaky command. Lamet's talent is undeniable- career-best 2.09 ERA and 34.8 strikeout rate in 2020- though he has yet to pitch more than 120 innings in a season. He has upside on a good Padres team but comes with considerable risk at his 101 ADP.--Tim Capurso
