4 years agoSan Diego Padres starter Dinelson Lamet completed five innings in a no-decision Thursday against the Texas Rangers, allowing two earned runs. Lamet was a bit wild in the contest, yielding three walks, but didn’t allow a hit until allotting a single and subsequent two-run homer in the fifth inning. He struck out nine. Establishing himself as the ace of the Friars rotation, the 28-year-old holds a 1.89 ERA, 0.84 WHIP and 34 percent strikeout rate through six starts. With hard-hit rates in the bottom quartile, Lamet’s xERA sits at 3.17, but the swing-and-miss stuff has been electric.
