Dion Lewis Ready To Assume Bigger Role
4 years agoNew York Giants running back Dion Lewis will need to assume a larger role in the offense as Saquon Barkley (knee) is out for the season. Barkley certainly leaves big shoes to fill, but Lewis will not be alone in trying to replace the Pro-Bowl running back as Devonte Freeman and Wayne Gallman should also see snaps in the New York backfield. Lewis should get the first crack at carries as he was the only one of the trio to be active for the Giants last week and he scored a touchdown after Barkley departed. Lewis is familiar with the offense and has a strong history as a receiving back as evidenced by his 400 yards on 59 catches in 2018 with Tennessee. Lewis is a fine flex option in PPR leagues but the best thing to do with this backfield would be wait a week and see how the carries are distributed.
