Diontae Johnson, Steelers Not Close On Extension
2 years agoPittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Diontae Johnson is unlikely to sign an extension anytime soon. In fact, Gerry Dulac reports that Johnson and the Steelers are far apart on a new deal. At this point, it seems highly unlikely that Johnson gets an extension before Week 1. GM Omar Khan mentioned that he wants to get Johnson under contract, but it's not surprising to see Johnson holding out until he can get top dollar. Last season, Johnson finished with 107 receptions, 1,161 receiving yards, and eight touchdowns through 16 games with Pittsburgh. The expectation is that Johnson will continue playing at an elite level in 2022, but he might not be in Pittsburgh long term.
