Dodgers Have High Hopes For Yoshitomo Tsutsugo
4 years agoThe Los Angeles Dodgers believe they can work with newly acquired first baseman Yoshitomo Tsutsugo to unlock his potential, according to Bill Plunkett of the Orange County Register. Tsutsugo has struggled in his two seasons with the Rays, slashing .187/.292/.336 with eight home runs, 29 RBI and 32 runs scored after averaging over 31 home runs a season from 2014 through 2019 in Japan. Plunkett reports that the Dodgers have compared footage of Tsutsugo playing in Japan and in MLB, and say that "he's a shell of himself," but they believe they can help him turn things around at the plate. It's far too early to look into acquiring him, but if the Dodgers are correct and they can fix Tsutsugo's approach at the plate, he could become an interesting waiver-wire sleeper later in the season.
