2 years agoThe Los Angeles Dodgers have looked at Kansas City Royals second baseman Whit Merrifield, whose 553 consecutive games-played streak came to an end due to a big-toe injury this week. He's considered day-to-day, but his vaccination status could lower is trade value within the American League. The rebuilding Royals won't trade right-hander Zack Greinke unless he requests a deal, which is unlikely, since he bought a house in Kansas City. Because Merrifield is unvaccinated, he's available to play in KC's series in Toronto this weekend against the Blue Jays. The Royals have been reluctant in the past to trade the 33-year-old, but this year could be a different story. He's been a bit of a disappointment in 2022, hitting .240 with five homers, 36 RBI and 14 stolen bases, but he'd fit nicely in the Dodgers potent offense.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
