5 years agoThe Los Angeles Dodgers have placed first baseman David Freese on the 10-day IL retroactive to June 21 with a left hamstring strain. The veteran is having a fine year in his part-time role batting .308 with eight homers and 23 RBI in 56 games getting the majority of starts against southpaws. He's surprisingly hitting right-handers much better to a .380 average but struggles to find everyday playing time with the left-handed heavy Dodgers lineup. The team recalled catcher Will Smith in a corresponding move who shined in a six-game stint earlier this year. With Austin Barnes and Russell Martin on the roster, Smith won't find much playing time and can be ignored in all formats.--Riley Mrack - RotoBaller
