Dodgers To Use Six-Man Rotation When Clayton Kershaw Returns
2 years agoLos Angeles Dodgers skipper Dave Roberts said that the team will go with a six-man starting rotation for "a couple weeks at the bare minimum" once left-hander Clayton Kershaw (back) returns from the injured list in order to keep guys stretched out down the stretch. Kershaw has been sidelined since early August with lower-back pain, but he could return as early as the end of next week after throwing a 70-pitch simulated game on Saturday. The Dodgers most definitely want the 34-year-old to be healthy for a lengthy playoff run, so they won't rush him back too soon, especially since he's had back problems in the past. When he returns, he'll come back to a 7-3 record, 2.64 ERA, 0.98 WHIP, 88 strikeouts and only 15 walks in 85 1/3 innings pitched over 15 starts.
