4 years agoColorado Rockies catcher Dom Nunez went 1-for-5 with a double, three RBI, and two strikeouts in a 9-8 loss to the Cardinals on Friday. Nunez cracked a double off of Carlos Martinez with the bases loaded to tie the game up a 5-5 in the top of the fifth inning. It was the 26-year-old's only hit of the contest but it sure was a big one. Nunez is a flawed hitter, who strikes out a ton (30:7 K/BB ratio in 69 at-bats) but he does have some upside and provides more pop than Elias Diaz. Nunez's counting stats are impressive given his limited number of at-bats (five home runs and 18 RBI) but he's slashing just .203/.276/.522. Ultimately, neither Rockies' backstop is capable of being an everyday fantasy starter but Nunez is the more intriguing player of the two. He's more of an NL-only, two-catcher league option if anything.--Jon Mathisen - RotoBaller
