4 years agoNew York Yankees starting pitcher Domingo German notched his third quality start of the season in Sunday's 3-2 victory over the Nationals. German pitched 6 1/3 innings, surrendering a pair of runs on five hits while striking out six batters with one walk. The 28-year-old right-hander cruised through six innings with an economic pitch count but ran into trouble in the top of the seventh, allowing a leadoff double and a home run to Kyle Schwarber, ultimately costing him the win. German's fastball velocity was down a tick, but he exhibited his trademark control of the strike zone and allowed just an 88 MPH average exit velocity. He'll carry a 4.02 ERA and 31:6 strikeout-to-walk ratio through 31 1/3 innings into his next start against the Orioles on May 15. German pitched seven shutout frames against them in his first meeting with Baltimore.--Tim Capurso
