5 years agoThe Mets placed first baseman and outfielder Dominic Smith on the IL on Saturday, as the former top prospect has a stress reaction in his left foot. Smith had been having his most productive season in the big leagues to date, slashing .278/.352/.506, with 10 home runs in 196 plate appearance. In a corresponding move, the Mets selected the contract of outfielder Aaron Altherr from Triple-A Syracuse, who will likely be limited to a bench role, with J.D. Davis picking up most of Smith's playing time.
