Dominic Smith Hits Grand Slam In Mets' Rout
4 years agoNew York Mets outfielder/first baseman Dominic Smith went 2-for-5, including his first career grand slam, and drove in four runs in the Mets' 18-1 rout over the Blue Jays on Friday. The Mets' 2013 first-round pick now has 25 extra base hits and 36 RBI in 37 games played on the season. Overall, Smith is batting .331 on the season with a 1.051 OPS to go with eight home runs despite starting the season as a part-time player. The Mets will continue to find ways to keep Smith's bat in the lineup as they battle down the stretch for a playoff birth. Smith is legitimately working his way into National League MVP conversation with his continued breakout production.
