Dominic Smith Officially Recalled
7 years agoEarlier Friday, we told you the New York Mets were likely recalling first baseman Dominic Smith from Triple-A Las Vegas. The move is now official, and Smith should be available for the start of the Mets series in Philadelphia on Friday. Smith’s arrow has been trending down for some time, but it could easily point the other way with positive performance. A rough winter followed by an injured spring training left Smith on the outside looking in and for now, Adrian Gonzalez and Jay Bruce man first base in Queens. Plus, with Smith struggling in Triple-A, emerging first base prospect Peter Alonso is breathing down his neck from Double-A Binghamton. Smith is still worth holding in dynasty leagues of course, but he does need to get something going.
