Dominic Smith With Two Doubles On Sunday
4 years agoNew York Mets first baseman/outfielder Dominic Smith went 2-for-5 with two doubles and a run scored in the Mets' 8-7 win over the Phillies on Sunday. Smith has been struggling at the plate recently but is showing signs of coming out of his slump. He has now recorded two hits in the past two games and has four hits over his past nine at-bats. With Sunday's performance, Smith raised his slash line on the season to a modest .234/.250/.364 over 80 plate appearances. His hitting metrics, including a .304 xBA, a .547 xSLG, and a 10.5% barrel rate, suggest that Smith is due for positive regression. That said, his strikeout and walk rates are down from his 2020 figures. As long as Smith remains a regular in the Mets' lineup, fantasy managers should continue to keep Smith active in all formats. If he gets the strikeouts under control and puts more balls into play, we should see continued success that builds off of his last two games in Philadelphia.
