Drew Brees Primed for Solid Night on Monday Night Football
5 years agoNew Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees starts the season with a good matchup Monday night against the Houston Texans. While the Saints certainly like to run the ball, Brees still threw for just under 4,000 yards and 32 TDs last year, a nine-TD jump from the year before. With Mark Ingram gone, we don't know how the Saints will deploy their offense, but we do know that Brees still has talent and a great matchup. The Texans made a flurry of moves at the end of the preseason, one of which was trading away star pass-rusher Jadeveon Clowney. If the Texans can't get to Brees, he should have time to pick apart their secondary, which features a few new pieces that likely still need to mesh. In a game with a 53.5 over/under, it's safe to bet on Brees to orchestrate a few scoring drives for the Saints in a home game inside the dome.
