5 years agoNew York Mets pitcher Drew Gagnon will be utilized as the opener Monday night against Washington. This will be the first start of the year for Gagnon, who has pitched 11 innings so far in six games this season. Gagnon has been effective lately, as he has not allowed a run in his last five outings covering 5 2/3 innings. Gagnon is not expected to work deep into the game, as he has not gone more than three innings in an outing since April 16. This has the makings of a full-on bullpen game for the struggling Mets.--Walt Clark
