Drew Smyly Dominant Over Seven Innings
5 years agoPhiladelphia Phillies starting pitcher Drew Smyly didn't allow a run over seven innings pitched Tuesday against the Giants. Smyly scattered four hits and a walk against five strikeouts as he picked up his second win of the season. Smyly has not been a usable fantasy option most of this season as this performance actually lowered his ERA to 6.85. His xFIP is almost as bad at 5.95 and he only strikes out 21.9 percent of batters. Despite the rough season, Smyly has only allowed one run over 13 innings in two starts since being acquired by the Phillies. As long as he's hot he's a decent Sunday streamer when he'll face the White Sox who have the worst team wOBA since the All-Star break.
