Drew Smyly Fares Well In Much-Anticipated Return
6 years agoTexas Rangers starting pitcher Drew Smyly allowed one earned run, four hits and two walks with two strikeouts across three innings in a no-decision on Monday against the Houston Astros. He threw 46 of his 73 pitches for strikes, including 11 first-pitch strikes to the 15 batters he faced. The southpaw was making his first start in the majors since the 2016 season with the Tampa Bay Rays after recovering from reconstructive elbow surgery. He didn't last long, but he could be worth a look in deeper AL-only fantasy leagues if he sticks in the rotation. He'll take the ball next on Saturday against the Rangers on the road.
