Dustin Pedroia Activated For Home Opener, Batting Seventh
6 years agoBoston Red Sox second baseman Dustin Pedroia (knee) was activated from the injured list before Tuesday's home opener against the Toronto Blue Jays. The 35-year-old will start at second base and bat seventh against Toronto's Matt Shoemaker. This will be Pedroia's first major league appearance since last year on May 29. However, he did appear in seven spring training games, collecting five hits, driving in one and scoring three times. The team kept him in camp to start the year before a brief rehab stint in Single-A to get back into game shape. While he's starting his first game back, the Sox will likely split time with Pedroia and Eduardo Nunez, and then Brock Holt (eye) will return to the mix once he returns from the injured list. Pedroia projects as a very low-upside option in AL-only formats, and his lack of power offers very little DFS value.
