Dustin Pedroia Plays Entire Minor League Game Tuesday
6 years agoBoston Red Sox second baseman Dustin Pedroia (knee) played all nine innings of a minor league spring training game on Tuesday. According to manager Alex Cora, the 35-year-old made some diving plays at second and reported feeling "fine" afterwards. Offensively, Cora said Pedroia had three quality at-bats in four tries. Now the plan is for the veteran to start a rehab assignment in Low-A Greenville on Thursday. The Red Sox have Brock Holt and Eduardo Nunez to fill the void at second while Pedroia rehabs, so the team isn't rushing the oft-injured veteran. Even when he returns from the Injured List, Pedroia won't hold much fantasy value outside of AL-only formats, as the team will likely rest him often to try and keep him healthy for a whole season.
