4 years agoMiami Marlins relief pitcher Dylan Floro earned the first save of his career in Monday's 9-6 win over the Philadelphia Phillies. Floro likely wasn't expecting to pitch at all, as the Marlins entered the ninth inning with a 9-2 lead, but things started slowly getting away from reliever Shawn Morimando, so Floro was called upon with two outs in the ninth and a runner on base (tying run on deck). Given baseball's save rule, Floro threw four pitches, induced a groundout, and earned his first save. There's no closer controversy in Miami whatsoever, Floro was likely just the reliever best able to warm up quickly when the Marlins bullpen likely thought they were packing things up for the night. Floro will continue to work as the main setup man for closer Yimi Garcia.--David A Marcillo - RotoBaller
