Eagles Acquire Chauncey Gardner-Johnson From Saints
2 years agoThe Philadelphia Eagles acquired starting safety Chauncey Gardner-Johnson and a seventh-round pick in the 2025 draft from the New Orleans Saints on Tuesday in exchange for a fifth-rounder in 2023 and a sixth-round selection in 2024. Gardner-Johnson had been in contract talks with the Saints until a couple of days ago, and when talks broke down, both sides were willing to move on. The Saints have a ton of depth in their secondary, so the 24-year-old became expendable. Gardner-Johnson is a big-time playmaker that will start immediately in Philly's secondary. The former fourth-rounder played in only 11 games last year, recording 46 tackles (32 solo), two sacks, four tackles for loss, four QB hits, a career-high three interceptions and seven passes defensed.
