Eagles Sign Jordan Howard To Activate Roster
3 years agoThe Philadelphia Eagles have signed running back Jordan Howard to the active roster after protecting him from the practice squad the last two weeks. This signals that the Eagles plan to keep, and likely use, Howard for the rest of the season, even after Miles Sanders (ankle) comes back. Obviously, this further muddies the waters in Philadelphia and makes it near impossible to use any running back in this backfield with confidence. When Sanders comes back, he figures to see the majority of the passing-down work, and hopefully the majority of early down work with Boston Scott still mixing in. Howard would likely retain a lot of the short-yardage and red-zone work, which cuts into Sanders' upside, even with the Eagles running more. Also, Howard's usage in the red zone could signal less red-zone rushing work for quarterback Jalen Hurts, which could limit the quarterback's fantasy ceiling as well.
