2 years agoNew York Mets skipper Buck Showalter is comfortable moving forward with a platoon situation at third base between Eduardo Escobar and Luis Guillorme. Escobar was out of the starting lineup on Wednesday against Washington Nationals right-hander Anibal Sanchez, and the 33-year-old veteran switch-hitter figures to be on the short side of the platoon moving forward. That means he'll likely only be at third base when the Mets are facing a left-handed pitcher. Escobar is hitting just .199 (48-for-241) against righties this year while going 30-for-115 (.261) with six of his 12 homers against southpaws. Meanwhile, the lefty hitting Guillorme is batting .312 (49-for-157) with both of his home runs and nine RBI against righties in 2022.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
