Eduardo Rodriguez Named Opening Day Starter
3 years agoDetroit Tigers starting pitcher Eduardo Rodriguez will be the team's Opening Day starter in 2022. Rodriguez will take the bump for the first time in a Tigers uniform on April 8 against the Chicago White Sox. The 28-year-old left-hander is also starting the team's first spring training game on Friday. E-Rod signed a five-year, $77 million deal with the Tigers in November after finishing with a 4.74 ERA, 1.39 WHIP and 185:47 K:BB in 157 2/3 innings in 2021 with the Boston Red Sox. The surface stats don't look all that great, but his underlying stats show that he was a bit unlucky. Getting out of the American League East should also make Rodriguez more attractive to fantasy managers, although the matchup with Chicago to open the season won't be an easy one.
