Eduardo Rodriguez Will Not Pitch In 2020 Season
4 years agoBoston Red Sox left-handed pitcher Eduardo Rodriguez has been ruled out for the remainder of the shortened 2020 campaign as he continues to deal with complications of having contracted COVID-19. Boston had initially been hopeful that their planned Opening Day 2.0 starter would be able to make it back from myocarditis, but the decision was made to shut him down until ‘21, even as he is expected to make a full recovery. Rodriguez had come into his own last season, winning 19 games as he exceeded the 200-inning plateau for the first time, striking out a career-best 213 batters. With Chris Sale also on the shelf, Boston faces a dire lack of front end arms for their starting staff, leaving Nathan Eovaldi as the clear No. 1 option for the remainder of this season.
