6 years agoSeattle Mariners closer Edwin Diaz needs two saves to become second on the all-time single-season list for saves in a season heading into the final games of 2018. Diaz has not had a save since September 17 and currently has 56 for the season. It has been an elite season for the right-hander but unfortunately the Mariners ran out of gas in pursuit of the playoffs. He has pitched only 8 1/3 innings in the month of September and has a 2.16 ERA with 13 strikeouts in that span. In the end, Diaz has enjoyed a breakout season and will head into the final weekend of the regular season with a 1.99 ERA, a 0.79 WHIP, a .159 opponents batting average and 121 strikeouts in only 72 1/2 innings.--Joey C - RotoBaller
