Edwin Diaz Leads Majors With 27 Saves
7 years agoSeattle Mariners closer Edwin Diaz leads the major leagues with 27 saves heading into Wednesday night's matchup against the Yankees. Diaz has not allowed a run over his last 8 1/3 innings with 12 strikeouts after allowing runs in back-to-back outings May 29 and June 1. It has been a fantastic season for Diaz and even more impressive given the fact that six of his 10 earned runs allowed all season have been to the Texas Rangers. Texas Rangers aside, Diaz has been dominant with 62 strikeouts in 38 total innings pitched this season and he is sporting a WHIP of only 0.87. Diaz is an elite closer and is a sure-fire candidate to make the All-Star team come July.
