Edwin Diaz Locks Down Ninth Save
3 years agoNew York Mets closer Edwin Diaz pitched the seventh inning in Thursday's opening game to collect his ninth save of the year. Diaz recorded one strikeout in setting down the three Colorado Rockies he faced in order, completing the combined shutout with starter Marcus Stroman. Diaz has been excellent in save chances this year, as he has a 100 percent conversion rate, though his numbers are not as strong in non-save situations. For the year, he has a 3.10 ERA, 1.07 WHIP, and 27 strikeouts in 20 1/3 innings of work. He's a top-of-the-line fantasy closer.
