7 years agoAlthough it was not in a save situation, Seattle Mariners closer Edwin Diaz made his first appearance since April 3 against the San Francisco Giants. The game against the Giants was the last possible save opportunity for Diaz. The hard-throwing closer was absolutely electric in his inning of work on Tuesday night, as he struck out Royals outfielder Paulo Orlando to lead off the inning. Diaz then struck out shortstop Alcides Escobar on three pitches, followed by a four-pitch strikeout of outfielder Abraham Almonte. Diaz remains among baseball's better closers and hopefully he will be granted more save opportunities in the very near future.--Brendan Kennealy
