4 years agoNew York Mets right-handed relief pitcher Edwin Diaz was much-maligned entering the 2020 season, but after striking out 39 batters in his first 19 innings, he has officially re-entered top-tier closer status. His 49.4% whiff rate is tops in the majors while also ranking among the game’s elite in xBA (.148), xSLG (.240), xwOBA (.236), strikeout percentage (48.1) and xERA (2.17). While he has notched just one save since Aug. 28, Diaz’s production has made him a worthy season-long asset in any format. Moving forward, Diaz should retain ample upside over the final two weeks.--Jesse Borek
