5 years agoUpdating a previous report, New York Yankees designated hitter Edwin Encarnacion (oblique) was removed from the first game of Thursday's doubleheader against the Tigers with a strained left oblique, not a wrist injury as was originally reported. This is terrible news for fantasy owners in the midst of the fantasy playoffs, as it can sometimes take months to recover from an oblique injury. Encarnacion will travel back to New York to undergo further testing, and an update on how long he will be out for should be released in the coming days.--Joseph Magazzinich
