Edwin Encarnacion Populates Souvenir City With Two Big Flies
6 years agoSeattle Mariners first baseman Edwin Encarnacion belted a pair of home runs Saturday night off of Angels starter Andrew Heaney. EE tagged him for a solo shot in the fourth followed by a two-run tater in the sixth as he now has 15 long balls on the year with 37 RBI. The 36-year-old broke out of a power slump in this contest after hitting just one homer since May 8 and his first RBI since May 20. Streaks like this have been common for Encarnacion over his career so look out for a power surge over the next week or so as he usually hits home runs in bunches. Expect Encarnacion to continue to put up considerable counting numbers by season's end, although it's looking likely that he won't finish the campaign in a Mariners uniform.
