3 years agoSan Francisco 49ers running back Elijah Mitchell compiled 85 rushing yards on 21 carries in the team's Week 18 victory over the Rams, giving him the franchise's rookie rushing yard record. Nabbed in the sixth round of the 2021 NFL Draft out of Louisiana-Lafayette, Mitchell needed just 11 games to break the mark, coming 37 yards shy of notching a 1,000-yard campaign. San Francisco's backfield was a morass at the beginning of the year, but Mitchell emerged as the season wore on, providing clarity as the team's marches into the postseason; he stands to hold significant DFS appeal in the opening round against Dallas. When healthy, the 49ers have leaned on Mitchell, who has logged at least 21 carries in each of his last five games. He should be in early consideration for first-round fantasy draft potential come 2022.--Jesse Borek
