3 years agoSan Francisco 49ers running back Elijah Mitchell (knee) may be available in time for a Week 17 matchup against the Texans, per head coach Kyle Shanahan. While Shanahan said that Mitchell "has a chance" to suit up, there will be significant hurdles for him to clear prior to kickoff. The explosive rookie's absence has allowed Jeff Wilson Jr. to serve as the team's RB1, with Deebo Samuel seeing an elevated role as a rusher in the short-term. When healthy, Mitchell has averaged 25.3 carries for 96.7 yards over his past three contests, which included two rushing touchdowns. Further bolstering Mitchell's potential fantasy appeal, the Texans defense has been shredded to the tune of 141.3 rushing yards per game this season, tied for the second most in the league. Fantasy managers will want to check back throughout the week to get the latest updates as it pertains to Mitchell.--Jesse Borek
