Elijah Mitchell Expected To Miss Two Months
2 years agoUpdating a previous report, San Francisco 49ers running back Elijah Mitchell (knee) is expected to be sidelined for around two months with the sprained MCL that he suffered in the Week 1 loss to the Chicago Bears, according to league sources. Well, that didn't take long. After leading the Niners in rushing as a rookie in 2021, the 24-year-old will now miss significant time to open the 2022 campaign. He should be stashed everywhere. Rookie Jordan Mason has no touches and rookie Tyrion Davis-Price was a healthy scratch on Sunday, but they're both worth speculative waiver claims if you have Mitchell rostered or are in need of another RB. Quarterback Trey Lance led the team with 13 carries in Week 1, while receiver Deebo Samuel was second with eight. Jeff Wilson Jr. entered the year as the primary backup to Mitchell, so he should become their No. 1 moving forward. Prioritize Wilson, who is rostered in only 16% of Yahoo leagues, over Davis-Price or Mason on the waiver wire.
