3 years agoSan Francisco 49ers running back Elijah Mitchell carried eight times for 36 yards and caught all five of his targets for an additional 43 receiving yards during a 31-17 Week 9 loss against the Arizona Cardinals. The rookie running back has emerged as the most consistent talent in the 49ers backfield this season, despite being a sixth-round draft pick behind rookie running back Trey Sermon, whom the team traded up to acquire in the third round of the 2021 NFL Draft. Mitchell's increased usage in the passing game is a welcome sign, as he maintains a hold on the RB1 role in San Francisco ahead of a Week 10 primetime matchup against the Los Angeles Rams. Mitchell should be valued as a high-end RB2 for the remainder of the season and is safe to keep inserting into lineups.--Matt MacKay - RotoBaller
