2 years agoSan Francisco 49ers running back Elijah Mitchell has a goal in mind for his second season: 1,000 yards and a Super Bowl. Ahead of his game against the Chicago Bears, Mitchell said, "I had [over] 900 yards last year, and I definitely want to top that." The Week 1 game at Soldier Field should help him get off to a good start towards that goal. The Bears ranked in the top ten for most rushing yards allowed per game and allowed 4.4 yards per attempt. PFF ranked Chicago as having the second-worst run defense in the league. Mitchell himself ran for 137 yards on 18 carries and a touchdown against Chicago his rookie year. The 49ers are expected to win by 7, and they are a team, with the fourth highest rate of rushing plays, that runs the ball to win. They might be expected to run the ball even more often with a young Trey Lance starting at quarterback (although Lance will take a lot of those extra runs himself). Overall, Mitchell is a safe start and a good bet to finish inside the top 24 RBs this weekend.--Mitchell Blatt - RotoBaller
