Elijah Mitchell Runs For 41 Yards Before Leaving With Knee Injury
2 years agoSan Francisco 49ers running back Elijah Mitchell ran for 41 yards on six carries before exiting with a knee injury in his team's 19-10 loss to the Chicago Bears. The 24-year-old was the Niners' clear No. 1 RB, taking most of the carries in the first half and breaking off two runs for over ten yards. In his absence, WR Deebo Samuel and RB Jeff Wilson Jr. took on increased second half roles, both finishing with over seven carries. Mitchell was seen in a brace after the game. It is unclear how many games he might miss, and 49ers coach Kyle Shanahan couldn't add any clarity. If he can return to full health, Mitchell will continue to be elite. Unfortunately, he has not been able to remain healthy for extended periods thus far in his career.
