Elijah Mitchell's Knee Injury Improving
3 years agoSan Francisco 49ers running back Elijah Mitchell (knee) is making progress with his knee injury and will likely be a game-time decision for the team's Thursday night showdown with the Tennessee Titans. Mitchell has been held out the past two games with a concussion on top of the knee injury, but he has been cleared from the league's protocol. His availability for Week 16 hinges solely on the health of his knee, which is a more promising sign that he could be active. When he has been in the lineup this season, he has been the workhorse in the 49ers backfield, as he is averaging 25 carries over his past three starts with a solid role in the passing game. Should he be active, the rookie is a must-start option unless there are reports that he could be limited in his return. If Mitchell is held out for a third consecutive game, Jeff Wilson Jr. will be in the RB2 discussion after he posted 21 carries for 110 yards and a touchdown in Week 15.
