2 years agoCincinnati Reds shortstop/third base prospect Elly De La Cruz had himself a day in a doubleheader for High-A Dayton on Thursday. One of the top infield prospects in the game, De La Cruz played shortstop in Game 1 and went 2-for-3 with a pair of home runs. In Game 2, the 20-year-old suited up at third base and went 2-for-3 with home run. On a day that the young prospect was named to the Futures Game, the switch-hitter not only homered three times, but from both sides of the plate. He is now hitting .302 with 18 homers, 50 RBI and 22 stolen bases. De La Cruz has shown fast bat speed and athleticism throughout his young career and has the chance to be a true five-tool player. With the Reds in a clear rebuild and De La Cruz yet to play above High-A, he is more of a name for dynasty managers to start looking into with him being a year or two away from making an impact in the big leagues.--Daniel Burdeen - RotoBaller
