6 years agoSan Diego Padres first baseman Eric Hosmer has heated up recently, raising his OPS from .516 to .750 since April 19. During the current road trip, Hosmer is 9-for-20 (.450 average) with three home runs and has collected knocks in nine of his last 11 games. After a brutal start, Hosmer has lifted his numbers closer to his expected average (.266) and expected weighted on-base average (.325). While not spectacular, those numbers suggest he still has room to ascend. The 29-year-old veteran is entrenched in the middle of the Padres lineup and has demonstrated he can accumulate hits in bunches. While Hosmer could prove a useful streamer and DFS play while he’s hot, he’s a recommended pass on Wednesday against Atlanta Braves starter Max Fried. Hosmer holds an abysmal .450 OPS against southpaws in 2019.--Andrew Le - RotoBaller
