4 years agoSan Diego Padres first baseman Eric Hosmer (finger) suffered a fractured left index finger in Monday’s contest against the Colorado Rockies. He’s expected to miss 2-6 weeks. Hosmer struck out attempting to bunt in his first at-bat, fouling a ball off his finger. It’s a tough loss for the Friars after Hosmer had been roaring to a .886 OPS with eight homers, 66 runs-plus-RBI and three steals. The recovery timetable makes him a drop in fantasy squads lacking roster flexibility. Mitch Moreland should get the bulk of starts in Hosmer’s absence. The 35-year-old is batting just .105 in 19 at-bats since joining the Friars but could be a cheap power source if he rediscovers his stroke with more consistent playing time.--Andrew Le - RotoBaller
