Eric Hosmer Homers Thrice In Three Games
6 years agoSan Diego Padres first baseman Eric Hosmer went 2-for-5 and smacked the decisive game-winning homer in Sunday’s victory against the Cincinnati Reds. Hosmer went deep in his third consecutive game and finished the four-game series 6-for-16 (.375 average), raising his season slash to .254/.318/.402. With only 67 runs scored and 62 RBI, Hosmer’s counting stats have considerably lagged the pace of his past two seasons, but the recent power surge brings his homer total to 16. While he’s been a broad disappointment, Hosmer has an outside shot to reach 20 long balls for the third straight year. Due to his modest power totals and weak supporting cast, Hosmer shouldn’t be trusted outside of the deepest fantasy leagues.
