Hosmer is batting .268 with a .336 on-base percentage, 11 home runs, and five stolen bases in 486 plate appearances this season. The Padres are starting Jurickson Profar at first base against Houston left-hander Framber Valdez. Profar, who is hitting eighth on Saturday, is batting .242 with a .347 on-base percentage, three home runs, and 10 stolen bases in 345 plate appearances this season.
