3 years agoSan Diego Padres first baseman Eric Hosmer isn't in the team's lineup for Wednesday's matchup with the Cincinnati Reds. Hosmer hasn't been able to replicate the strong season he had in 2020 and is hitting .250 with a .309 on-base percentage, six home runs and four stolen bases in 289 plate appearances. He won't start against Reds pitcher Vladimir Gutierrez. Jurickson Profar is starting in Hosmer's place at first base and is hitting seventh against the right-handed starter. Profar has gotten on base at a decent rate with a 12.7% walk rate and a .321 on-base percentage in 251 plate appearances this season. However, he offers little in the way of power with just one home run and a .061 ISO. If you're in need of a streaming option at first base, you're probably better off looking elsewhere.--Ben Rosener - RotoBaller
